A Simplex Contained in a Sphere

چکیده
Let Δ be an n-dimensional simplex in Euclidean space E contained in an n-dimensional closed ball B. The following question is considered. Given any point x ∈ Δ, does there exist a reflection r : E → E in one of the facets of Δ such that r(x) ∈ B? Mathematics Subject Classification (2000). 51M04, 51M16, 51B11.

Effects of Morphine on Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1&2
Background and Aims: Several drugs are being used in treatment of HSV infection in human but still introducing an effective safe drug is desirable. Methods: We investigated the inhibitory effect of morphine on replication of HSV in vitro. Results: The results indicated that a concentration of up to 200 ug/ml morphine had a limited effect on Vero cell viability. At this concentration the growt...
متن کاملSingular Vertices and the Triangulation Space of the D − sphere
By a sequence of numerical experiments we demonstrate that generic trian-gulations of the D−sphere for D > 3 contain one singular (D−3)−simplex. The mean number of elementary D−simplices sharing this simplex increases with the volume of the triangulation according to a simple power law. The lower dimension subsimplices associated with this (D − 3)−simplex also show a singular behaviour. Possibl...
متن کاملThe complexity of optimizing over a simplex, hypercube or sphere: a short survey
We consider the computational complexity of optimizing various classes of continuous functions over a simplex, hypercube or sphere. These relatively simple optimization problems have many applications. We review known approximation results as well as negative (inapproximability) results from the recent literature.
متن کاملOn the Spacing of Fekete Points for a Sphere, Ball or Simplex
Suppose that K ⊂ IR is either the unit ball, the unit sphere or the standard simplex. We show that there are constants c1, c2 > 0 such that for a set of Fekete points (maximizing the Vandermonde determinant) of degree n, Fn ⊂ K, c1 n ≤ min b∈Fn b 6=a dist(a, b) ≤ c2 n , ∀a ∈ Fn where dist(a, b) is a natural distance on K that will be described in the text. §
متن کاملAnalysis on the Unit Ball and on the Simplex
Many results on the unit ball and those on the simplex can be deduced from each other or from the corresponding results on the unit sphere. The areas in which such a connection appears include orthogonal polynomials, approximation, cubature formulas and polynomial interpolation. We explain this phenomenon in some detail.
